We know that the times are changing constantly and whilst we want to keep the…

As per the WA Government announcement recently, a mask mandate now applies to all indoor public spaces within the Great Southern Region that includes The Midway Markets. These are trying times and there is divided opinions about mask usage.
Before anyone gets upset at anyone, this is a friendly reminder that not everyone has to wear a mask.
As a market we are compliant with the COVID 19 Mask Mandates – and that includes not discriminating against those who have an exemption.
So what are the rules?
- Inside stallholders are to wear a mask unless they are covered by an exemption. Exemptions apply to a number of people based on age, physical, mental or medical condition. This is verified by their GP or other authority.
- The majority of outside stallholders are not currently required to wear masks. There are some outside stalls that are required based on the type of stall that they have (eg food preparation)
- If you have an issue with a person wearing or not wearing a mask, please do not approach or hassle them. This is not your role. Discuss with the market coordinator and any concerns that are unable to be addressed in a friendly manner will be referred to the relevant authorities.
Please Note: Whilst the Market Coordinator can ask and encourage mask usage where appropriate, only the local authorities have the authority to enforce. Please remember we are trying to “do the right thing” but in the friendliest, most inclusive way possible. We do not make these rules, so please do not attack those who are doing their best to implement them.
Remember to act with kindness and compassion at all times, rather than judgement.
If you have been advised that someone has a valid exemption from wearing a mask, then please do not poke and prod for their personal information. Be rest assured that this has been verified.
If you accidentally forget your mask, there will be disposable masks available for purchase at the front of the hall at a low cost.
Be kind. Be Compassionate. Be Safe and we shall see you at the next markets on February 26th from 12noon – 4pm
